Plumbing has been with us for ages. The water supply system carries water from an underground water main to the house and distributes it to sinks, showers, toilets, the washing machine, dishwasher,
and other water-using fixtures and appliances. A leak or a broken toilet will suddenly bring a need to call in a plumbing specialist. When you are remodeling, your thinking will go beyond the occasional plumbing problem to building new bathrooms, selecting fixtures, and hiring plumbers.
Our plumbing specialists are available 24x7, 365 days a year for any sort of plumbing problems. Plumbing is one of those specialties that require a lot of expertise. If you try to do it yourself and mess up your plumbing, you can find yourself slogging through the results, with a mop in hand.
Do not take chances yourself, unless you know what you are doing. Call us and one of our specialists will be able to assist you, whether it be plumbing for a new remodeling of a basement or a new problem with your existing plumbing.
Once the main enters the house, it branches out to smaller pipes that deliver cold water to the fixtures and water-using appliances. One
branch goes to the water heater and, from there, delivers hot water to the faucets and appliances that require it. The primary hot and cold water pipes routed through the house are usually 3/4 inch in diameter inside, particularly if there is more than one bathroom.
Smaller branches that feed individual fixtures are generally 1/2 inch pipe unless a fixture requires a heavy flow.
A good water supply and drain system is all about materials and execution. Shortfalls in either area may lead to a failure to pass inspection, and if problems are not caught, you could be left with an unreliable, noisy system.
There are ways to prevent this. Hot-water lines should be insulated along their entire length to minimize heat loss. Insulating cold-water pipes is a good idea because insulation help eliminate condensation and ticking noises caused by the pipe's expansion and contraction. When pipes pass through framing, holes should be drilled large enough for brushings that allow the pipes to expand and contract.
When it comes to gas piping, gas pipe can look very similar to a water pipe; it is typically black steel with threaded fittings. The best way to
identify a gas pipe is to locate its points of origin and termination. Gas pipe running from the main gas pipe runs to appliances, or outdoor barbeque gas, and/or the heading system. Each gas pipe should have its own shutoff valve near each appliance it serves in case of emergencies, but this isn't always the case.
Because the natural gas that runs through a gas pipe is under pressure, and it's fumes are toxic and highly combustible, working on gas pipes and fittings is best left in the hands of a experience plumber such as plumbers from our company.
